Garden eating!

Such delight and joy when anticipating and then savoring a delicious tomato! These are precious moments at the farm.

The children so enjoy the fresh-picked garden veggies! It’s the first thing the students ask when they come to the farm… “When can we eat the garden nibbles?” The production focus of the farm is not only delivering to the cafeteria but growing enough for over 1000 students visits/month! That’s a lot of carrots, kale, broccoli, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, bok choi and other veggies. Plus there are the unusual vegetables the children enjoy – french sorrel, anise hyssop and purple mustard are favorites. They also adore broccoli and kale flowers. Given the chance, children are also highly creative with their garden veggies- making garden tacos, garden pizzas and garden sandwiches. Lots of happy eaters at the farm!
