In addition to growing the veggies for the cafeteria and the students during classes, we’re doing a lot of work to improve the infrastructure at the farm. On Saturday, Sept. 19, several big projects moved forward!
The roof beam and rafters are going up on the new harvest shed. The Garden Resource Center was scraped and sanded in anticipation of a new coat of paint. A big thank you to the school district for the new roof that was installed this summer.
Nothing like many hands to remove various piles of garden debris, Chris Korrow’s tractor to grade and till the site, and bingo, we have the new Kindergarten Garden located between the small hoophouse and the Kindergarten playground. The hoophouse will also provide an indoor area during inclement weather. Stay tuned for more fun updates on the kindergarten program!
We planted the last lettuce of the season, and enjoyed a picnic with garden-fresh veggies. Many thanks to Jude, Chris, Ariel, Pete, Scott, Nadean, Constance, Briar, Camille, Halley, Meg, Cheryl, Chris, Cary and Antoine!
