Bountiful harvest

peas enjoying_2514The School Farm and LMS Garden delivered 237 pounds of fresh lettuce, spinach, kale, bok choy, broccoli and cabbage to the Chartwells school cafeterias this spring! We kept the salad bars stocked with salad greens in April, May and June.

Who knows how many pounds the students ate during their classes! With 850 student visits a month and every child eating garden tacos, peas and carrots that’s at least another 250 pounds. Plus over 500 pounds distributed to the Good Cheer Food Bank, Whidbey Island Nourishes and community volunteers. About 1000 pounds grown this spring for students, school lunches and the community!
