“Having spent the last year and a half in Portland, Oregon, I’ve enjoyed the ever evolving bountiful beauty that is the Pacific Northwest. It was there, where my love of early childhood education intersected with my passion for the environment and community development. Working as a Before and Afterschool Site Instructor at Sunnyside Environmental School I was able to pursue both of these interests. As a volunteer for Essential Elements Apothecary I furthered her connection to the Earth through medicinal healing. Hailing from Massachusetts, where I received my BA in Sociology and Minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at UMASS Amherst, I was surrounded by a rural scape that allowed me to explore the diversity and interrelation between humans and the environment.
I am ecstatic to apprentice at the School Gardens, where I will put my practice of forging relationships between kids and the environment into use. In my down time I enjoy frolicking through the woods, creative cooking and of course eating, hiking, wildcrafting, embarking on unknown adventures, hula hooping, dancing, long distance skype chats with my family, concocting herbal remedies, reading, and listening to music!”
